She frolicked in the freshly cut grass, feeling the resonance of her own breath with a clarity and calm that did not square with the blazing spin of her ecstasy. Her lungs swelled with nature, her eyes with light. It was true, what the old people sometimes said, about how the outdoors charged one with bodily peace, a spiritual balance—it was true! She decided there, at the outskirts of a forest beyond all poetry, that she would not spend one more second of her life inside.
