They had come to begin construction of a base camp, but they were in for a rude shock: the lunar surface was already host to other, much smaller astronauts, who had constructed a tiny artificial habitat that far outstripped their modest engineering plans in both efficiency and style, and indeed seemed quite at home. Arranging to take a picture of the marvelously humming outpost, they were further dismayed to see, far too late, that one of the little cretins was stealing their moon lander.
